Kim Kardashian Gets Sleek in London With Pete Davidson in Cropped Hoodie & High-Rise Boot Pants for Date Night - Yahoo Life

Kim Kardashian’s boot pants rarely take a day off — or night, for that matter, as evidenced by her latest attire for a London night out with Pete Davidson.

The “Selfish” author arrived at the River Cafe for a date night with Davidson, wearing a black cropped hoodie emblazoned with a white “Balenciaga” logo. The rest of her ensemble was minimalist, completed with a large black top-handle bag. Kardashian later left the restaurant wearing oversized rounded sunglasses.

Davidson provided a grungy counterpart to Kardashian’s sleek outfit. The “Saturday Night Live” alumni — who completed his last episode earlier this month — wore a gray T-shirt, silver necklace and black jeans, layered under a plaid shirt and black jacket. Low-top white canvas sneakers gave his look a casual finish.

When it came to shoes, Kardashian opted for one of the most unique current shoe trends, which has also become one of her latest style signatures—the boot pant. The “Temptation” actress wore a  high-waisted set with stretchy legging-like uppers, finished with a sharp pointed toe. The pair was complete with stiletto heels totaling at least 4 inches in height, appearing to stem from a pump-like base. The shoes gave Kardashian’s look a streamlined and monochrome silhouette, while remaining edgy from its sleek appearance. The pair was similar to past styles she’s worn in colors like brown, blue and hot pink, hailing from Balenciaga.

The boot pant is one of the most recent daring trends, due to its hybrid merge of fashion and footwear. Most styles feature pointed-toe pumps with stiletto heels, merged with a single-tone, stretchy upper that creates a silhouette similar to leggings or trousers. The style has also been worn by Cardi B and Hailee Steinfeld, though Kardashian’s known for wearing them from her closeness with Balenciaga designer Demna. Legging, pant and even jean-like pairs have also launched from Saint Laurent, Richard Quinn and Dolce and Gabbana in recent months.

The former “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star is known for wearing bold outfits, from see-through leggings to mesh dresses. These are often styled with pieces in matching or complementary hues from a wide array of top brands, including Balmain, Balenciaga, Maison Margiela and Mugler. Her shoes are often trend-based and daring, ranging from towering Rick Owens platform boots to Yeezy sneakers. Most recently, she’s been seen in vintage sandals, boots and pumps from brands like Prada, Manolo Blahnik and more.

Mona Lisa smeared with cake in apparent climate protest - CBS News

The most famous smile in the world was briefly obscured Sunday when a man smeared some cream cake over the Mona Lisa, in what seems to have been a climate protest.

The 16th century masterpiece by Leonardo da Vinci was untouched, however, as it is protected behind bulletproof glass in the Louvre museum in Paris.

Social media quickly lit up with videos posted by tourists who were in the gallery at the time.

Visitors posted that a man disguised himself as an elderly lady in a wheelchair, presumably in order to gain access to the spot right in front of the painting reserved for the handicapped. Then he stood up and smeared the cream cake over the glass case that protects the Renaissance painting.

As security guards pounced on him, the man, who was wearing a wig and makeup, threw red roses at their feet.

As they led him away, the man told the crowd, in French: "Think about the Earth. There are people who are destroying the Earth. Think about it ... all artists, think about the Earth — this is why I did this. Think about the planet."

The Louvre issued a statement Monday saying the painting had not suffered any damage. The museum said the man had hidden the cake inside his personal belongings.

The Paris prosecutor's office said Monday that the 36-year-old man was detained following Sunday's incident and sent to a police psychiatric unit for evaluation. An investigation has been opened on charges of damage of cultural artifacts.

Madonna’s latest outing with her fashionable son comes after she made headlines when she had a night out with FKA Twigs on May 25. The “Live to Tell” crooner was spotted leaving London’s members-only club The Twenty Two in Grosvenor Square with the British musician as they held hands and wowed in epic fashion choices. Madonna wore a white patterned dress under a black blazer with fishnet tights and black boots as FKA Twigs donned and brown and red sweatshirt under a gray coat, a gray skirt, and tan cowboy boots.

The talented artists also rocked epic hairstyles and headgear with their looks. Madonna had two braids in her hair as she added sunglasses to the overall style and FKA Twigs wore a tan head wrap with reddish tints as she also added sunglasses to her look. The ladies topped things off with various pieces of jewelry, including necklaced and earrings.

Rocker Ronnie Hawkins, dies at 87, patron of Canadian rock - The Associated Press

Ronnie Hawkins, a brash rockabilly star from Arkansas who became a patron of the Canadian music scene after moving north and recruiting a handful of local musicians later known as the Band, has died.

His wife Wanda confirmed to The Canadian Press that Hawkins died Sunday morning after an illness. He was 87.

“He went peacefully and he looked as handsome as ever,” she said by telephone.

Born just two days after Elvis Presley, the Huntsville native friends called “The Hawk” (He also nicknamed himself “The King of Rockabilly” and “Mr. Dynamo”) was a hell-raiser with a big jaw and a stocky build.

He had minor hits in the 1950s with “Mary Lou” and “Odessa” and ran a club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where acts included such early rock stars as Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Conway Twitty.

“Hawkins is the only man I ever heard who can make a nice sexy song like ‘My Gal is Red Hot’ sound sordid,” Greil Marcus wrote in his acclaimed book about music and American culture, “Mystery Train,” adding that “The Hawk” was alleged to “know more back roads, back rooms and backsides than any man from Newark to Mexicali.”

Hawkins didn’t have the gifts of Presley or Perkins, but he did have ambition and an eye for talent.

He first performed in Canada in the late ’50s and realized he would stand out far more in a country where homegrown rock still barely existed. Canadian musicians had often moved to the U.S. to advance their careers, but Hawkins was the rare American to try the reverse.

With drummer and fellow Arkansan Levon Helm, Hawkins put together a Canadian backing group that included guitarist-songwriter Robbie Robertson, keyboardists Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel and bassist Rick Danko. They became the Hawks, educated in the Hawkins school of rock.

“When the music got a little too far out for Ronnie’s ear,” Robertson told Rolling Stone in 1978, “or he couldn’t tell when to come in singing, he would tell us that nobody but Thelonious Monk could understand what we were playing. But the big thing with him was that he made us rehearse and practice a lot. Often we would go and play until 1 a.m. and then rehearse until 4.”

Robertson and friends backed Hawkins from 1961-63, putting on raucous shows around Canada and recording a howling cover of Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love” that became one of Hawkins’ signature songs.

But Hawkins wasn’t selling many records and the Hawks outgrew their leader. They hooked up with Bob Dylan in the mid-’60s and by the end of the decade were superstars on their own who had renamed themselves the Band.

Hawkins, meanwhile, settled in Peterborough, Ontario, and had a handful of top 40 singles there, including “Bluebirds in the Mountain” and “Down in the Alley.”

He admittedly didn’t keep up with the latest sounds — he was horrified the first time he heard Canadian Neil Young — but in the late 1960s he befriended John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono. They stayed with Hawkins and his wife, Wanda, and three children while they were visiting Canada.

“At that particular time, I thought I was doin’ them a favor,” he later told the National Post. “I thought the Beatles were an English group that got lucky. I didn’t know a lot about their music. I thought Yoko’s was (silly). To this day, I have never heard a Beatle album. For 10 billion dollars, I couldn’t name one song on ‘Abbey Road.’ I have never in my life picked up a Beatle album, and listened to it. Never. But John was so powerful. I liked him. He wasn’t one of those hotshots, you know.”

Hawkins also kept in touch with the Band and was among the guests in 1976 for the all-star, farewell concert that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s documentary “The Last Waltz.”

For a few moments he was back in charge, grinning and strutting under his Stetson hat, calling out “big time, big time” to his former underlings as they tore through “Who Do You Love.”

Besides “The Last Waltz,” Hawkins also appeared in Dylan’s film “Renaldo and Clara,” the big-budget fiasco “Heaven’s Gate” and “Hello Mary Lou.” A 2007 documentary about Hawkins, “Alive and Kickin,’” was narrated by Dan Aykroyd and featured a cameo from another famous Arkansan, Bill Clinton.

Hawkins’ albums included “Ronnie Hawkins,” “The Hawk” and “Can’t Stop Rockin,’” a 2001 release notable for Helm and Robertson appearing on the same song, “Blue Moon in My Sign.” Helm and Robertson were no longer speaking, having fallen out after “The Last Waltz,” and recorded their contributions in separate studios.

Over time, Hawkins mentored numerous young Canadian musicians who went on to successful careers, including guitarist Pat Travers and future Janis Joplin guitarist John Till.

He received several honorary awards from his adopted country, and, in 2013, was named a member of the Order of Canada for “his contributions to the development of the music industry in Canada, as a rock and roll musician, and for his support of charitable causes.”

Wynonna Judd continuing to 'do the personal healing work' after mother Naomi's tragic suicide - Daily Mail

Wynonna Judd says she is focused on 'personal healing work' after mother Naomi's tragic suicide a month ago - and vows that the heartbreaking series of events will NOT 'be how The Judds' story ends'

Wynonna Judd on Sunday took to Instagram to give fans an update on how she's coping a month after the tragic suicide death of her mother Naomi Judd at 76.

'Checking in,' the Ashland, Kentucky native, 57, said in the caption of the social media post. 'There is so much happening in the world right now. Before I sat down to write this, I thought, "No…I just don't know what to say." Then, I heard the words from my life coach asking me, "What do you know?" And I began to cry.'

The No One Else on Earth artist continued, 'WHAT DO I KNOW?? I DO know, that the pain of losing Mom on 4/30 to suicide is so great, that I often feel like I'm not ever going to be able to fully accept and surrender to the truth that she left the way she did. This cannot be how The Judds story ends.'

The latest: Wynonna Judd, 57, on Sunday took to Instagram to give fans an update on how she's coping a month after the tragic suicide death of her mother Naomi Judd at 76. She was snapped at a tribute to her late mother in Nashville May 15

Wynonna said that amid the tragic time, and with a focus on being 'a healthier grandparent' for her baby grandchild Kaliyah, she knows she 'must continue to show up for' herself 'and do the personal healing work' in an effort 'to break the cycle of addiction & family dysfunction.'

Wynonna added: 'I know that it is a simple steps program, and those steps are not easy to take at times. Therefore, I’ve made a commitment to keep doing the "next right thing," and schedule weekly appointments so that I continue with the ongoing work, even when I have good days.'

Wynonna said that she feels 'so helpless - right now especially' and cited the Judds' hit 1990 song Love Can Build A Bridge that her late mother penned.

'I DO know, that as corny as it sounds, Love Can Build A Bridge,' she said. 'I find myself humming the song that Mom wrote for the fans, to myself here on the farm at night.'

Wynonna updated fans on how she's healing in the wake of Naomi's tragic death at 76 a month ago. The two were snapped at the CMT Awards April 11
Wynonna took to the stage at the tribute to her late mother earlier this month

Wynonna said she was aware of her support system amid the trying times following the family tragedy, and dedicated to performing.

'I really DO know, that I’m not able to do this grieving thing all by myself, and that it’s okay to reach out for help,' she said. 'I will continue to fight for my faith, for my SELF, for my family, and I WILL continue to show up & sing.'

Wynonna wrapped up the emotional post in saying, 'Thank you all for your love and support. Let’s check in more often.'

The update came less than a month after Wynonna and sister Ashley Judd, 54, announced Naomi's passing in a statement on social media.

Wynonna and Ashley issued a statement April 30 announcing the family tragedy

'Today we sisters experienced a tragedy,' the sisters said. 'We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.'

The day after Naomi's death, The Judds were indicted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the CMA Theater in Nashville, where Wynonna pledged to continue performing, telling the audience, 'Though my heart's broken, I will continue to sing, because that's what we do.'

Ashley told the crowd through tears, 'I’m sorry that she couldn’t hang on until today.'

Wynonna will be touring this fall on The Judds: The Final Tour, which she was initially slated to be on with her mother. A number of country music artists, such as Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Brandi Carlile, Little Big Town, Martina McBride and Ashley McBryde, will accompany Wynonna on selected nights on the tour.

'I am humbled, once again, by the loyalty of the fans who have been with us for 38+ years, who continue to show up for me when I need them the most,' Wynonna said in a May 19 statement.

Elon Musk weighs in on Depp-Heard trial: 'I hope they both move on' - Fox News

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Elon Musk took to Twitter Friday night to chime in on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's future following the drama-filled six-week trial, which is now in the hands of the jury.

"I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible," Musk said in response to podcaster Lex Fridman's tweet.

Fridman prompted Musk's response with conclusions following the defamation trial.

"My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: 1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some). 2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill. 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of. 4. Love can be messy. 5. Mega pint of wine."

During the trial, Depp alleged that Musk and Heard dated during his marriage to Heard. The Tesla CEO and Heard dated on and off after her split with Depp in 2016 until 2018, according to a Musk representative.

In April, the Tesla CEO was subpoenaed to give up any and all communication he had with Heard concerning Depp.

Following the subpoena, Musk's attorney, Alex Spiro, told Fox News Digital his client would not take the stand.

In 2019, the "Pirates of The Carribean" actor sued Heard for $50 million in defamation damages after she published a 2018 op-ed piece in The Washington Post, alleging she was the victim of domestic violence. In 2021, Heard countersued Depp for $100 million.

Both sides presented closing arguments Friday and now await a verdict from the jury.

Controversial Lady Colin Campbell Was to Host Thomas Markle for Jubilee - Newsweek

Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, had planned to stay with a controversial aristocrat who runs a royal YouTube channel during his planned trip to Britain at the time of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

Lady Colin Campbell, a Jamaican-born British aristocrat and author turned reality television star, known for voicing her controversial opinions on members of the royal family, announced to her 144,000 YouTube subscribers on Thursday that Meghan's father was to stay at her castle home during his stay in Britain had it not been canceled owing to his ill health.

It was announced on May 24 that Markle had experienced a stroke and had been hospitalized as a result, making his international trip impossible. Meghan's half-sister Samantha, who is suing Meghan for libel, told GB News that: "My father is recovering in hospital. We ask for privacy for the family, for his health and wellbeing."

"He just needs peace and rest," she continued. "Godspeed. We are praying. He just needs some rest. It's a travesty how much he's been tortured and how much he's had to go through thanks to my sister's disregard the past few years. That is unforgivable."

On Wednesday she provided an update, saying: "He's doing better, he's in good spirits," but that: "it's going to take several, maybe six months, maybe a year to get his speech back...The stroke was in the right side of the brain so the damage was on the left and he's left-handed but it also impaired his speech and his ability to swallow."

Meghan and her father have been estranged since 2018 when shortly before the royal wedding he was exposed as having collaborated with a member of the paparazzi to stage a series of photographs of him trying on wedding suits and researching Prince Harry online.

Markle has not met his two royal grandchildren, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 11 months.

Campbell told viewers of her YouTube channel that Markle's intended stay had been organized in collaboration with GB News host Dan Wootton who it was intended would conduct an interview with the 77-year-old during his visit.

"Dan Wootton and I, and Dan's people and I," she said, "have been in touch with each other for some time now."

She continued that the planned arrangement was "essentially a private visit, however, it has been derailed by Mr. Markle's unfortunate illness."

Campbell has had a long career as a royal commentator being among the first to publish a biography of Princess Diana in the 1990s that implied that the Wales' marriage was not a happy one.

Since then she has launched her YouTube channel and become an outspoken critic of Meghan and Prince Harry, organizing a change.org online petition earlier this year advocating for the couple to be stripped of their royal titles. So far this petition has reached over 86,000 signatures.

In her most recent YouTube video, Campbell compares Meghan to the daughters of William Shakespeare's King Lear who she likens to the royal's father.

"So far as I am concerned, Thomas Markle is the living embodiment of King Lear," she said, "and his thankless daughter Meghan is the combination of Lear's two thankless daughters Goneril and Regan."

In King Lear, Goneril and Regan betray their father out of greed before turning on one another.

Meghan is due to make her first public return to Britain next month since stepping down as a full-time working royal in March 2020, for a visit marking Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

She has returned to Britain only once since moving to America and only in a private capacity to visit the queen ahead of her 96th birthday with Harry. Meghan has not made a public appearance in the U.K. since the broadcast of her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and her popularity in the U.K is low with a net approval rating of -21.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan confirmed to Newsweek in May that:

"Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honored to attend The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children."

It is not known which jubilee events the couple will be attending but they are expected to appear alongside other members of the royal family at a special service of thanksgiving for the queen's 70-year reign on Friday, June 3.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Roars With Massive $19.3M In Previews, Sets Records For Tom Cruise, Paramount & Memorial Day Weekend – Box Office - Deadline

FRIDAY MIDDAY UPDATE: It’s looking like a record opening for Memorial Day weekend as Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick is set to earn $142.4M over four days, which will easily overtake Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End which did $139.8M. It’s taken 15 years for that record to be broken. Friday for the Tom Cruise sequel is looking like $50M with an estimated 3-day of $117M. That will make Top Gun: Maverick the second biggest opener for Paramount after Iron Man 2 which debuted to $128.1M, and ahead of 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ($100.1M). Top Gun 2 is also the second biggest opening day for a Paramount title after Iron Man 2‘s $51.1M.

Look, even if these numbers recede, this is far and away (no pun intended, Mr. Cruise) the biggest opening for the 3x Oscar nominated, near 60-year old blockbuster star. See, industry, it certainly paid off for some studios to hold their movies during the pandemic until cinemas reopened.

When asked during his master class at Cannes whether straight to streaming was an option for the Skydance co-financed movie, Cruise exclaimed, “No, that’s not going to happen ever” which triggered great applause. “That was never going to happen.”

FRIDAY AM UPDATE: After a 36-year wait, the Tom Cruise sequel Top Gun: Maverick finally took off to a massive $19.3 million in previews from Thursday 3 p.m. showtimes and a one-time 7 p.m. Tuesday fan event.

That’s the highest-grossing preview in Paramount Pictures’ history and the highest-grossing Memorial Day preview in history; and of course, it’s the best for Cruise. Early projections heading into the weekend were $80M-$100M over four days, and a high octane start such as this could easily propel Top Gun: Maverick to the best Memorial Day weekend opening ever, besting the $139.8M four-day total of 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Without a question Top Gun: Maverick is also looking to be the best opening of Cruise’s career, easily leaving behind his 2005 three-day cume of War of the Worlds which was $64.8M.

Everything is working in Top Gun 2‘s favor: It’s the widest release ever at 4,735 theaters and has 5 out of 5 stars on ComScore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak, with a 96% positive and an enormous 84% definite recommend. PLFs (31%) and Imax (21%) combined repped 52% of preview ticket sales. Imax alone counted $4.1M in previews, the best ever for the exhibitor with a Paramount title, a Cruise movie and a top 10 all-time Imax result as well.

Also juicing bucks for Top Gun 2 is a 97% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes after a month’s worth of buzzy global premieres and a current audience score on RT of an amazing 99%.

The previous big preview for Paramount was 2009’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with $16M, which was on a Tuesday and resulted in a $62M Wednesday (previews repped 25% of that figure). Best Thursday previews for a movie opening over Memorial Day weekend actually belongs to Disney’s Star Wars: A Solo Story which saw $14.1M, but only repped 40% of its first Friday’s $35.3M. That movie was panned by fans and yet resulted in a $103M four-day holiday opening.

Thursday previews began at 3 p.m. for the Paramount/Skydance feature. In addition, there was also a “Top Gun” Tuesday with premium large format, Imax, and Dolby screens opening their curtains at 7 p.m. for one show alone. We hear the majority of the sequel’s preview cash was made yesterday.

Top Gun: Maverick blows away Cruise’s previous Thursday preview record, that being 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout which earned $6M.

Top Gun: Maverick means a little something extra to exhibition and studios overall: Outside of older guys attending, which Cruise always attracts (Fallout pulled in 41% men over 25), the hope is that this sequel plays wide, from under 25 to Cruise female fans who hung his posters in their bedrooms and lockers during the 1980s. Last night saw unweighted a turnout of 57% guys to 43% women. Fallout‘s Thursday night repped 26% of its first-day Friday of $22.8M before going on to make $61.2M.

Elsewhere last night, 20th Century Studios/Disney’s The Bob’s Burgers Movie saw $1.5M in previews from shows that began at 5 p.m. The pic is 86% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a current audience score of 96%. A $10M-$14M four-day launch is expected at 3,425 U.S.-Canada locations. Next to other previews, Sing 2 did $1.6M on its Tuesday early shows, Encanto did $1.5M on Tuesday previews while The Bad Guys did $1.2M on the Thursday night before its Friday opening.

Among regular ranked movies yesterday, Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness earned $2.4M at 4,534 theaters, off 14% from Wednesday for a running three-week total of $354.4M.

Focus Features’ Downton Abbey: A New Era was second with $1.3M, down 11% from Wednesday for a first week’s take of $22.6M at 3,820 locations.

Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys was third yesterday with $576,000, +1%, at 3,705 venues and a running five-week total of $76.7M.

A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once booked at 1,576 posted a ninth Thursday of $426K, -16%, and a running cume of $54.3M.

Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 drew around $330K, -4%, at 2,943 for a seven week running total of $182.6M.

Priscilla Presley in tears as 'Elvis' receives 12-minute standing ovation at Cannes - Page Six

Priscilla Presley was overcome with emotion after the forthcoming biopic “Elvis” received an extraordinary 12-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival — the longest applause so far, according to Variety.

The 77-year-old — who was married to Rock-‘n’-Roll legend Elvis Presley from 1967 until 1973 — reportedly wiped away tears as she hugged director Baz Luhrmann after the screening.

As the cheers went on and on, a teary-eyed Austin Butler — who stepped into the blue suede shoes of the iconic crooner — hugged an equally-emotional Priscilla.

At the post-screening event, lights in the sky formed outlines of the legendary singer, which read “#Elvismovie” up above.

With the audience still on its feet, Luhrmann hugged his cast members and was clearly moved by the audience’s warm reception of his latest project.

The director said that when COVID hit production of the film was shut down, he felt like it was “never going to happen.”

“But for the bravery of Tom to come back, and the bravery of his cast, and this crew, to go on through COVID, and to finish this film… and we are back in Cannes,” he said.

“And to see these streets so full of people who love movies, of every form of life, of every background, and every kind of movie says so much more about what this place means, and what it means to be back in the cinema. So for that, we are eternally grateful, Cannes.”

Presley has previously sung her praises of the new film, officially giving her stamp of approval last month.

In a Facebook post, the “Naked Gun” actress said she saw the movie with her late ex-husband’s longtime pal Jerry Schilling and was impressed by Butler taking on the titular role.

“The story is about Elvis and Colonel Parker’s relationship,” Presley wrote. “It is a true story told brilliantly and creatively that only Baz, in his unique artistic way, could have delivered. Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is outstanding.”

“Halfway through the film Jerry and I looked at each other and said WOW!!!” she shared. “Bravo to him…he knew he had big shoes to fill. He was extremely nervous playing this part. I can only imagine.”

Prior to the “Elvis” world premiere at Cannes, the movie earned rave reviews from Lisa Marie Presley, and the crooner’s granddaughter Riley Keough.

Lisa Marie called the film “nothing short of spectacular.”

“Austin channeled and embodied my father’s heart and soul beautifully,” she said. “In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and finally done accurately and respectfully. If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I will eat my own foot.”

Keough told Variety at Cannes that she started crying within the first five minutes of watching “Elvis,” adding, “I could feel how much work Baz and Austin put into trying to get it right.”

“That made me emotional immediately…I felt honored they worked so hard to really get his essence, to feel his essence. Austin captured that so beautifully,” she added.

Ray Liotta Dies: ‘Goodfellas’ Star & ‘Field Of Dreams’ Actor Was 67 - Deadline

A shocker. Ray Liotta, the terrific actor whose career breakout came in the 1990 Martin Scorsese crime classic Goodfellas after co-starring in Field of Dreams, has died. He was 67.

Deadline hears that Liotta died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic, where he was shooting the film Dangerous Waters. We will have more details when they become available.

Liotta leaves behind a daughter, Karsen. He was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo.

Liotta was on a big resurgence. Recent turns included The Many Saints of Newark, Marriage Story — for which he shared a 2020 ensemble Indie Spirit Award and Steven Soderbergh’s No Sudden Move. He finished the Elizabeth Banks-directed Cocaine Bear and was due to star in the Working Title film The Substance opposite Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley.

He also recently was set to executive produce the A&E docuseries Five Families, about the dramatic rise and fall of the New York’s mafia’s Genovese, Gambino, Bonnano, Colombo and Lucchese families.

While better known for his big-screen roles, Liotta also starred with Taron Egerton in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird, recurred on Prime Video’s Hanna, fronted the 2006 CBS crime drama Smith and starred opposite Jennifer Lopez in the 2016-18 NBC police drama Shades of Blue.

Liotta won a Primetime Emmy in 2005 for his guest stint on ER and was a two-time SAG Award nominee for the 2015 miniseries Texas Rising and 1998 telefilm The Rat Pack, in which he starred as Frank Sinatra opposite Don Cheadle, Joe Mantegna and Angus Macfayden.

Among his earliest screen roles playing nice guy Joey Perrini on the popular NBC soap Another World from 1978-81.

He had his “Who’s thar?” turn in the Jonathan Demme-directed Something Wild (1987), scoring a Golden Globe nomination, and then played banned Chicago White Sox superstar Shoeless Joe Jackson opposite Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones in 1989’s Field of Dreams. Liotta then quickly followed playing gangster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s Goodfellas, opposite Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in what was to be the defining role of his career.

The ruggedly handsome, blue-eyed Liotta was a perfect Henry Hill, narrating a tale of his growth into the organized-crime gang that pulled off the famous Lufthansa heist at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1978, making off with more than $5 million in cash and jewels stored in the German airline’s air cargo building. The film, which Nicholas Pileggi adapted with Scorsese from his book, was nominated for six Oscars, with Pesci getting its lone win.

Born on December 18, 1954, in Newark, NJ, Liotta studied acting at the University of Miami before landing his Another World role. He had bit parts in telefilms and guested on St. Elsewhere in 1983 before co-starring in Casablanca, a short-lived 1983 NBC prequel series to the classic movie. David Soul starred as Rick.

Liotta went on to play a cop in the mid-’80s ABC drama Our Family Honor before landing his first big movie role as Ray Sinclair in the romantic comedy Something Wild, starring Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels. He then starred as Eugene with Tom Hulce as Dominick in the 1988 drama Dominick and Eugene, also starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

That led to his two most famous roles.

Liotta played a ghostly version of Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams, widely considered among Hollywood’s greatest baseball movies. His character was banned from baseball for life after the 1919 “Black Sox” scandal and gets a chance to play again when Ray Kinsella (Costner) is guided by voices to build a stadium in an Iowa cornfield. Directed by Phil Alden Robinson and co-starring Jones, Amy Madigan and Burt Lancaster in his final big-screen role, the film earned three Oscar nominations including Best Picture.

Then Scorsese came calling.

Coming off 1988’s The Last Temptation of Christ, the filmmaker pivoted to the mob genre with Goodfellas and cast Liotta to star as Henry Hill. The pic was a critical and commercial success, landing six Oscar noms including Best Picture, with Pesci winning for Supporting Actor and Scorsese getting his third nomination for Best Director.

That signature role led to Liotta becoming a big-screen regular during the ’90s, when he would star in such films as Unlawful Entry, No Escape, Unforgettable, Turbulence, Operation Dumbo Drop, Cop Land and Corrina, Corrina.

He continued to be busy in the 2000s with roles in Ridley Scott’s Hannibal, the Silence of the Lambs sequel starring Anthony Hopkins; Ted Demme’s Blow, with Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz; Narc, opposite Jason Patric; Nick Cassavetes’ John Q., starring Denzel Washington; James Mangold’s Identity, with John Cusack and Amanda Peet; and Joe Carnahan’s Smokin’ Aces, with Jeremy Piven and Ryan Reynolds; and as himself in Jerry Seinfeld’s animated Bee Movie; among other pics.

His more recent silver-screen credits include Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines, starring Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper; The Iceman, with Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder and Chris Evans; Killing Them Softly, opposite Brad Pitt, which premiered at Cannes; Judd Apatow’s Wanderlust; Shawn Levy’s Steve Carell-Tina Fey crime comedy Date Night; Observe and Report, opposite Seth Rogen; and the Frank Miller-Robert Rodriguez sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Liotta also guested on such popular TV series as The Simpsons, SpongeBob SquarePants, Family Guy, Hannah Montana, Just Shoot Me! and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and narrated 2015 docuseries The Making of the Mob.

More recent career highlights for Liotta were playing the second lawyer of Adam Driver’s character in Netflix’s Marriage Story, which scored six Oscar nominations including Best Picture, and Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark, co-starring as twin brothers “Hollywood Dick” Moltisanti and Salvatore “Sally” Moltisanti.
