Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter, dies aged 79 - BBC

Christine McVie, who played with Fleetwood Mac and wrote some of their most famous songs, has died aged 79, her family has said.

The British singer-songwriter was behind hits including Little Lies, Everywhere, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, and Songbird.

She died peacefully at a hospital in the company of her family, a statement said.

McVie left Fleetwood Mac after 28 years in 1998 but returned in 2014.

The family's statement said "we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally".

Born Christine Perfect, McVie married Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie and joined the group in 1971.

Fleetwood Mac was one of the world's best known rock bands in the 1970s and '80s.

Their 1977 album Rumours - inspired by the break-ups of the McVies and the band's other couple, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - became one of the biggest selling of all time, with more than 40 million copies sold worldwide.

McVie was one of eight members of the band inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

In the same year after the success of their live album The Dance, she retired to Kent, saying a fear of flying meant she was leaving the band.

But she rediscovered her love of performing at a one-off appearance with the band at London's O2 in 2013 and returned to them a year later.

"It was amazing, like I'd never left. I climbed back on there again and there they were, the same old faces on stage," she told the Guardian newspaper at the time.

In 2017 she told BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs programme that she had developed agoraphobia after leaving the band.

A statement by the band said of McVie: "We were so lucky to have a life with her.

"Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed."

Married 'GMA' co-hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach allegedly had months-long affair - Page Six

Good morning, affair!

Married “Good Morning America” co-anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach left their partners after an alleged months-long affair, Page Six has confirmed.

A source claims to Page Six their romance began in March around the time they were training together for the New York City half marathon.

The pair — who reportedly left their spouses in August — were spotted “canoodling” in bars near ABC News back in May, a source claims.

According to one staffer, the couple has gone to extreme lengths to hide their affair.

“They have a very cozy relationship on air, but that is what is expected. But they were very careful behind the scenes to keep their affair secret. The producers at ‘GMA’ are shocked to hear they are having an affair.”

Reps for Holmes and Robach didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Meanwhile, new photos obtained by the Daily Mail show Robach and Holmes recently cozying up to each other — and at one point even holding hands — during various outings in upstate New York and around the city.

Two weeks before Thanksgiving, the “GMA 3” co-anchors went on a getaway to a remote cottage where Holmes was seen grabbing Robach’s butt as she leaned into the trunk of a car, per the photos.

Insiders also told the Daily Mail that the ABC staff was “buzzing about the intimacy between them” while they were in England in June for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Robach, 49, has restricted comments on her Instagram as eagle-eyed fans noticed she not only ditched her wedding band but also stopped posting photos of her husband, Andrew Shue. Meanwhile, Holmes’ Instagram appears to have been deactivated.

Sources told DM that Robach and her husband, as well as Holmes and his wife, Marilee Fiebig, went their separate ways in August.

Robach and Holmes, 45, have been close friends for years and have even gone out on double dates with their now-seemingly former significant others and also participated in the NYC half marathon in March.

“What a perfect race day!!!! Beautiful weather, beautiful friends, and personal records for all 5 of us,” Robach captioned a photo that included her, Shue and Holmes.

Buckingham Palace official quits after asking Black charity boss where she was 'really from' - CNN

CNN  —

An honorary member of Buckingham Palace has resigned and apologized after a Black charity founder said she was questioned about whether she was really British at a royal reception on Tuesday.

The guest, Ngozi Fulani, is the CEO of Sistah_Space, an organization that provides specialist services to women of African and Caribbean heritage affected by abuse.

Fulani was attending a royal function on domestic abuse organized by the Queen Consort on Tuesday evening when she said a member of staff began a line of questioning that the palace called “unacceptable and deeply regrettable.”

Sistah_Space shared a rough transcript of the conversation on Twitter on Wednesday. Fulani said that, after identifying herself as British-born, the person asked her “where do you really come from;” “where do your people come from;” and “when did you first come here?”

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson acknowledged the incident and said the palace was taking the situation “extremely seriously.”

“Unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes,” the spokesperson said.

“In the meantime, the individual concerned would like to express her profound apologies for the hurt caused and has stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect.”

News of the encounter came to light as the Prince and Princess of Wales traveled to the US ahead of the second iteration of the Earthshot Prize Awards later this week.

A spokesman for William said: “Racism has no place in our society, these comments were unacceptable. It’s right that the individual concerned has stepped down.”

The incident is likely to revive concerns that the palace is elitist and out of touch when it comes to issues of race and identity.

The palace has, in recent years, faced allegations of racist behavior, including in its hiring practices decades ago and the treatment of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. A former counterterrorism police chief said Tuesday that Meghan and Harry had faced “disgusting and very real” threats from right-wing extremists.

Meghan claimed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year that an unnamed member of the family made remarks about the skin color of their unborn baby while she was pregnant with Archie.

Prince William later said the royal family was “very much not a racist family.”

Kanye West Storms Out of Interview After Tim Pool Lightly Defends Jews - The Daily Beast

Kanye West’s first extended interview since his meeting with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago last week lasted about 20 minutes.

The artist now known as Ye stormed out of a sit-down with the reactionary social-media performer Tim Pool, after the host lightly pushed back on Ye’s meandering, paranoid, and yet largely uninterrupted antisemitic rant that opened the show.

During that 20-minute stretch, West offered a sprawling, aggrieved commentary railing against those he believes had harmed him, including but not limited to: a designer at Adidas who Ye is convinced was a CIA and somehow also a “Zionist” plant; Jamie Dimon; Hollywood executives; the Gap; his former trainer and also, in Ye’s mind a Canadian deep-state agent; and, of course, the fictional Jewish cabal in charge of both banking and media. “It was like American History X, like my head was on the side of the curb, and the exact people that I called out kick my head,” said Ye. The rapper also appeared to back Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, who similarly posted antisemitic material, and talked about the true “bloodlines” of Black people.

“Rahm Emanuel was right next to Obama, and then Jared Kushner was right next to Trump,” Ye added, ending with a “da-da!” musical flourish to punctuate his antisemitic talking point about Jews being puppet masters.

During a brief pause in his near-monologue, Pool told Ye, “I think they’ve been extremely unfair to you.” When asked by Ye to clarify who he meant by “they,” Pool replied: “The corporate press.” That didn’t satisfy Ye. “Who is ‘they,’ though?” he shot back. As Pool stammered, one of the evening’s other guests chimed in: Nick Fuentes, the 23-year-old white nationalist and Holocaust denier, who had taken on an undefined role in Ye’s largely theoretical 2024 presidential campaign. “It is them, though, isn’t it?” Fuentes said, again referring to Jewish people.

Evidently, because Pool refused to play into one of the oldest antisemitic tropes around, Ye considered it a bridge too far. Before Pool could get another word in edgewise, West rose from out of his chair and silently marched out of the studio.

Fuentes left as well, as did the evening’s third guest, Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right troll and former Breitbart tech editor who was drummed out of the conservative movement in 2016 for his seemingly blithe attitude towards relations between adult males and minors.

Like Fuentes, Yiannopoulos also joined Ye’s campaign team in some capacity. Earlier in the show, he’d praised Fuentes to the hilt, calling the Charlottesville marcher, “Stop the Steal” pusher, and pro-Hitler pundit the “most extraordinary, brilliant political commentator of his generation.” Yiannopolous at times has claimed Jewish lineage himself, but that self-identification has apparently been dropped after he tumbled farther to the fringes of the conservative media ecosystem, along with an insistence that he’d cured himself of his homosexuality and posted threats about harming another far-right personality’s dog. Yiannopoulos did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.

In between Ye’s rambling, the trio did provide some new information. The meal with Trump originally was scheduled to take place in October, but the former president postponed it after announcing his own 2024 run. During that same time period, Ye was involved in a series of bizarre public appearances and began making more explicitly antisemitic statements, including a tweeted promise to go “death con 3” on “JEWISH PEOPLE,” and blaming the “Jewish media” and “Jewish Zionists” for his troubles. Though it didn’t make the final cut, he also implied during an interview with Tucker Carlson that fictional children were being placed in his home.

Whether those incidents gave Trump reason to delay their meeting, West didn’t say. He brought Fuentes along with him because, “He was rolling with me,” said Ye. “I was impressed with Nick. And I was like, just come to the dinner.” Yiannopoulos was also in favor of Fuentes’ presence at the meal. “He's been treated just about as badly as anybody,” he said. “So I thought he deserved to be in the room too.”

Pool made his name in conservative media by bringing in similarly far-right figures and whitewashing their extremist beliefs before an audience of millions, as The Daily Beast previously reported. As recently as last week, Pool hosted a pundit affiliated with the hard-right Groyper movement, which Fuentes ostensibly leads. At no point during their conversation did he mention his guest’s prior extreme rhetoric, and at times he seemed to agree with him. On Monday night, some of Pool’s viewers on YouTube shared their own antisemitic beliefs.

Though Pool pushed back more on Monday than he normally does—and after Ye and his campaign staff walked out in a huff, Pool did forcefully denounce antisemitism on air—he still tried to find common ground. “Nick, they call you a white supremacist,” he said, addressing Fuentes. But “you're here working with or for, you know, one of the most powerful Black men.” (Pool did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment.)

Apparently the tweeted announcement Pool made earlier Monday about Ye, Yiannopoulos, and Fuentes’ appearance had spurred some of Pool’s “good conservative friends,” as he put it, to reach out, telling him that giving unreconstructed bigots a platform as big as his was a mistake. “Tim, don't have these people on. They’re bad people,” Pool claimed he was told.

From Pool’s point of view, though, the show served its purpose, partly because the trio refused to engage in a lengthy debate and unpack their beliefs for the scheduled two-hour broadcast.

“I think you should all invite them on,” Pool insisted. “I think if anything is bad for their ideas, it's exactly what just happened.”

Jessie James Decker fires back after being accused of photoshopping abs onto her kids - Fox News

Jessie James Decker is firing back.

The mom of three is responding to comments accusing her of photoshopping abs onto her children in a beach photo.

Jessie and her husband, Eric Decker, took their children to Mexico for a vacation. The former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant shared a picture of her kids posing at the beach in swimsuits.

"Vacation Decker style," she captioned the photo before adding a muscle emoji, a coconut and a palm tree.

Many commented on the children's healthy lifestyle and asked for their dieting and exercise regimen. However, some took to the comments to express disbelief over the young kids' physique.

Jessie James Decker responded via Instagram after she was accused of photoshopping abs onto her children in a photo taken during family vacation.

JESSIE JAMES DECKER REVEALS HER SECRET TO A STRONG MARRIAGE WITH ERIC DECKER

"that doesn't look right.. sorry, not sorry," one user wrote.

"it's a sad world we live in today when having healthy fit kids who are super active play sports are build [sic] muscle naturally is ‘weird,'" Jessie responded.

"Surely this is an app but I don't see anyone saying as much," another user commented.

"yeah I used an ‘ab’ app on my small children wtf," Jessie wrote in response.

Jessie and Eric married in 2013 while the football star was playing for the Denver Broncos. The couple share three kids together: Vivianne Rose and sons Eric "Bubby" Thomas II and Forrest Bradley.

The "I Still Love You" singer explained that her kids "eat well and do sports" to maintain their muscle. Vivianne also participates in gymnastics.

"We do a lot of home cooking. The kids love their steak and chicken," she responded to one user.

Jessie also called out another user, although the original comment has been since deleted.

"From one mother to another. Please don't call my children's appearance strange just because they don't look the way you think they should? It's unkind."

Jessie recently opened up about her secret to a strong marriage with her retired NFL player husband.

"I've been really lucky to be able to bring Eric, bring the kids, whenever it makes sense for our schedules. And so we're rarely apart that long," she told Fox News Digital. "We've got a day rule where three days is like the absolute limit. Even though a couple of weeks ago, during the second week, it was a little bit longer. And I definitely struggled with that."

"We're fortunate," she added. "We get to really be together and, you know, music is family, and I've just been really blessed with that. As soon as Eric retired, I was able to start working, and it was his turn to be a support system for me. So, we've been really blessed with that."

Helena Bonham Carter Rails Against Cancel Culture, Defends J.K. Rowling and “Vindicated” Johnny Depp - Hollywood Reporter

Helena Bonham Carter is making it quite clear how she feels about so-called cancel culture, along with sharing her thoughts on such embattled public figures as Johnny Depp and J.K. Rowling.

During an interview with The Times that published online Saturday, Bonham Carter criticized the notion that someone’s personal life should impact their career: “Do you ban a genius for their sexual practices? There would be millions of people who if you looked closely enough at their personal life you would disqualify them. You can’t ban people. I hate cancel culture. It has become quite hysterical and there’s a kind of witch hunt and a lack of understanding.”

Related Stories

When asked whether there is a path to redemption for such Hollywood notables, the Oscar-nominated actress said, “I don’t think there is for someone like Kevin Spacey. And Johnny certainly went through it.”

In responding to a follow-up question specifically about Depp, who has co-starred with her in multiple films and is godfather to the two children she shares with former partner Tim Burton, Bonham Carter said she feels the Pirates of the Caribbean star is “completely vindicated” following his high-profile trial involving ex-wife Amber Heard. Bonham Carter added, “I think he’s fine now. Totally fine.”

When asked whether a Virginia jury awarding Depp $15 million in his defamation suit against Heard earlier this year was a sign of the #MeToo pendulum swinging back, Bonham Carter replied, “My view is that she got on that pendulum. That’s the problem with these things — that people will jump on the bandwagon because it’s the trend and to be the poster girl for it.”

During the trial, Depp denied ever striking Heard and accused her of lying about his alcohol and drug use. He and Bonham Carter have worked together in films including Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows.

The actress was also impassioned about the blowback that Harry Potter author Rowling has received over comments that have been criticized as transphobic. Bonham Carter played Bellatrix Lestrange in the four most recent Harry Potter films.

“It’s horrendous, a load of bollocks. I think she has been hounded,” Bonham Carter said about Rowling. “It’s been taken to the extreme, the judgmentalism of people. She’s allowed her opinion, particularly if she’s suffered abuse. Everybody carries their own history of trauma and forms their opinions from that trauma and you have to respect where people come from and their pain. You don’t all have to agree on everything — that would be insane and boring. She’s not meaning it aggressively, she’s just saying something out of her own experience.”

When asked about the film franchise’s stars — such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint — who have spoken out about Rowling’s remarks, Bonham Carter said, “Personally I feel they should let her have her opinions, but I think they’re very aware of protecting their own fan base and their generation.”

Review: In ‘KPOP,’ Korean Pop and Broadway Meet (Too) Cute - The New York Times

The worldwide sensation and American-style musical theater form an awkward alliance onstage.

“A lot of people come to these things and they don’t even understand the language,” says Harry, a filmmaker who passes for the villain in the noisy yet skimpy new musical “KPOP.” “So what are they watching for?”

Good question.

For the record, the answer provided by Tiny, a member of a Korean pop group called RTMIS, is delivered, unlike a lot of the show, in English: “Perfection, Mr. Harry. OK?”

And it’s true that if you enjoy the precision-drilled dancing, meticulous melisma and auto-tuned sentiments that have turned K-pop into a worldwide sensation over the past 10 years, you are likely to be among those cheering the musical’s Broadway incarnation, which opened on Sunday at Circle in the Square.

But those who aren’t hard-core fans of the genre or don’t understand Korean — let alone those who saw the radically different and far superior Off Broadway version in 2017 — will have a harder time enjoying this one. For them, the musical is less an eye-opener than an ear-pounder, assiduously drowning out any ambitions it may once have had to be more.

It can’t be lost on the creative team that in adapting their Off Broadway hit for a bigger and more conventional audience they courted the same fate as their fictional counterparts. Both then and now, the book of “KPOP,” by Jason Kim, concerns the efforts of a Seoul hit factory to push its stable of custom-groomed artists into crossover success in the United States. To do so, they are willing to sacrifice almost anything.

That theme was given edgy, immersive expression in Teddy Bergman’s 2017 staging, produced by the experimental theater incubator Ars Nova in association with Ma-Yi Theater Company and Woodshed Collective. It imagined the audience as members of an itinerant focus group who, serving as emissaries of American taste, were led in small packs from space to space and given glimpses of what those sacrifices might mean.

If some seemed silly, others were trenchant; an especially disturbing encounter involved a plastic surgeon. But by the time everyone assembled in one last room for a concert-cum-party, the giddy fun of the bubble-gummy songs (by Helen Park and Max Vernon) felt earned — even if the reversal was dramatically perplexing. Were we now celebrating what the rest of the show had encouraged us to disparage?

That problem remains, with new ones added. To begin with, Bergman, directing again, faced an overwhelming difficulty in the fact that no Broadway theater could accommodate the immersive concept. Gabriel Hainer Evansohn’s set provides a partial solution: Instead of the audience moving, a tongue-shaped stage does, sliding back and forth bearing performers. And video screens mounted everywhere (Peter Nigrini is the projection designer) allow us to eavesdrop on the backstage action captured when Harry the filmmaker (Aubie Merrylees) goes rogue.

Instead of the audience moving, a tongue-shaped stage does, sliding back and forth with the performers. Sara Krulwich/The New York Times

The narrative frame was rebuilt less successfully. The audience, no longer a focus group, merely watches as a K-pop impresario named Ruby (Jully Lee) prepares for a concert that will introduce her stable of acts to America. There are three of them: the five-woman RTMIS (pronounced Artemis), the eight-man F8 (pronounced fate) and the solo diva MwE (pronounced mu-WEE) — an orphan Ruby has raised, Mama Rose-style, for stardom.

MwE (played by the actual K-pop star Luna) has been reconfigured entirely. Her problem is no longer that she is aging out of pop credibility but that she wants creative freedom and a normal life with her boyfriend (Jinwoo Jung). Ruby ruthlessly tries to quash those dangerous ideas — love and creativity are not things a K-pop star can afford, she says — even as she complains about MwE’s failure to perform from the heart.

This is familiar material, thinly delivered, and so is the dissatisfaction of the members of RTMIS, which is so vague and hastily resolved I barely caught what it was. Only among the members of F8 does the conflict feel fresh and worthy of exploration in song: Its seven longtime members resent the “new kid,” Brad, brought in to juice their American rollout. Biracial and Connecticut-raised, Brad (Zachary Noah Piser) is seen by the others as inauthentic; he isn’t even fluent in Korean.

The songs, unfortunately, do not take up the challenge of investigating that issue, or any other. They are all diegetic — actual numbers performed by the characters — and are thus connected to the story, as in a jukebox musical, by only the feeblest of threads. When Brad tells the filmmaker that he grew up neither Korean enough for some nor American enough for others, and proceeds to sing a song called “Halfway,” we may expect an exploration of those feelings. But no, it’s a love ballad, addressed to a girl: “Can you meet me halfway, baby?”

The same problem derails “Korean Man,” a song for F8 that you may think from the setup will express their assertion of national pride. As we learn from the parts of it that are performed in English, though, it’s mostly about having the “baddest swagger” and “bein’ a bad, bad boy.”

Jully Lee, left, plays a K-pop impresario named Ruby, and the real-life K-pop star Luna plays MwE.Sara Krulwich/The New York Times

With their link to the drama severed, and the drama in any case attenuated, the songs cease to function as they normally do in musical theater and collapse into a concert. That’s true even before the final 20 minutes of the show, when the filmmaker plot is summarily abandoned and, with it, any pretense of plot.

So that flashback scene in which Ruby tells MwE, at 13, that she’s a “disaster” with “tree trunk legs,” and a choreographer shouts that she’s shaming her parents? Forget about it. Come hear the band. (Actually, there are only three instrumentalists.)

By then, if you are not a fan, you may feel worn out by the aggressive mimicry of the K-pop performance style, not just in the mostly electronic arrangements but also in the minutely detailed choreography by Jennifer Weber, the squint-inducing lighting by Jiyoun Chang and the hundreds of can-you-top-this costumes by Clint Ramos and Sophia Choi. In that environment it’s hard to say whether Brad’s “Halfway” and MwE’s “Mute Bird” — acoustic songs simply staged and feelingly delivered — are actually lovely or merely a relief.

In its remaking for Broadway I wish “KPOP” had preserved more moments like that: moments that allow you to consider what the excitement of K-pop (for those who feel it) and the expressiveness of American musical theater (likewise) can profitably say to each other. Both have their fans and no doubt their glories, as well as their limitations. But it seems to me that in introducing the two, a good place to have met would have been, well, halfway. “KPOP” still has far to go to get there.

Jay Leno performing at California comedy club, two weeks after burn accident - CNN

CNN  —

Jay Leno is returning to the comedy stage Sunday night, two weeks after sustaining significant burn injuries in a gasoline fire.

The former “Tonight Show” host will perform in front of a sold-out crowd at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, according to a spokesperson for the club.

Leno, an avid car collector, had been working underneath a vehicle on November 12, when he was burned.

The 72-year-old underwent two surgical procedures to treat his injuries, his physician, Dr. Peter Grossman, said. Leno suffered burns to his face and hands.

His doctor noted that Leno was walking around and cracking jokes during his stay at the Grossman Burn Center.

The hospital announced in a November 21 news statement that Leno had been released.

“Jay will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic for burns to his face, chest and hands he received during a fire at his home garage,” the statement said.

Grossman said he was pleased with Leno’s recovery and “optimistic that he will make a full recovery.”

“Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes,” the hospital added. “He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday.”

Leno is slated to perform three additional shows at the Comedy and Magic Club in December.

CNN’s Susannah Cullinane contributed to this report.

2022 WWE Survivor Series WarGames results, recap, grades: Sami Zayn turns on Kevin Owens, aids The Bloodline - CBS Sports

Sami Zayn may not be blood, but he is very much part of The Bloodline. Zayn chose family over friendship at WWE Survivor Series WarGames, playing a pivotal role in his team's victory over Kevin Owens and company at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday night.

A heated WarGames match between Team Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and Zayn) and Team Brawling Brutes (Owens, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Butch and Ridge Holland) emphatically closed out Survivor Series. Zayn's allegiance to The Bloodline was in question, particularly due to his long-standing friendship with Owens. Zayn ultimately saved the match for The Bloodline by turning his back on Owens. The act earned Reigns' approval and the respect of his biggest detractor, Jey Uso.

Survivor Series also featured another WarGames match. Raw women's champion Bianca Belair led a team comprised of Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Becky Lynch and Mia YIm against Team Damage CTRL: Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley.

CBS Sports was with you live throughout Survivor Series WarGames with match results, grades and highlights as the action went down.

2022 WWE Survivor Series WarGames results, grades

Team Belair (Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Mia Yim) vs. Team Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley) (WarGames match): The match kicked off with Belair taking on Kai before Sky joined the fray after Team Damage CTRL won an advantage on Raw to have one of its competitors begin the cycle of participants entering the match. Sky showed off incredible acrobatics with backflips, a springboard drop kick and top rope head scissors, but had awkward slips while trying to land double knees in the corner. Asuka was the second member of Team Belair to enter the match and she immediately found herself exchanging strikes and holds with Sky, a longtime friend and rival from their days in Japan. Belair exhibited her absurd strength, carrying Kai across the ring with a military press and tossing her into the fence.

The anarchist Cross was the third member of Team Damage CTRL to exit the holding cell. Cross immediately hit the ring apron, retrieving several kendo sticks and trash can lids and bringing them into the ring. She hit Belair with a Tornado DDT and planted Asuka with a Cradle Shock. Alexa Bliss evened the playing field once the clock struck. Belair snatched a kendo stick from Cross and twisted it like a pretzel. Bayley entered as the fourth member of Damage CTRL. She tossed a ladder and table into the ring. The trio of Damage CTRL slid a table between the two rings and rammed it into Belair, trapping the Raw women's champion between the fence, table and two sets of ring ropes.

Powerful bruiser Ripley was the last member of Team Damage CTRL to enter the match. A calculated beatdown of Team Belair was briefly halted when Yim took out Ripley, but Sky made Yim pay with repeated trash lid shots to the head. The arrival of Lynch earned a loud ovation from the live crowd. Lynch fought off all five members of the rival team before facing off with Bayley. Asuka spat poison mist in Ripley's face, allowing Lynch to capitalize with a DDT. The participants teased a Tower of Doom spot, but Cross killed the crowd's enthusiasm with a kendo stick to Belair's ribs. Sky landed a stunning moonsault off the top of the cage, eliciting loud chants from the Boston crowd. Cross attempted to handcuff Bliss to the cage but ended up getting handcuffed to Bliss and driven through a chair. Rivals Yim and Ripley exchanged a series of holds ending with Ripley driving both women through a ladder propped in the corner.

In the closing moment of the match, Belair and Lynch struck game-winning chemistry. Belair laid out Bayley with a KOD into the fence while Lynch climbed it. Lynch lept off the top of the cage and drove Kai and Sky through a table with a massive leg drop. Lynch covered Kai for the three-count.

The match had a lot of great highlights and some interesting combinations of superstars. The participants tried to accomplish a lot with the time they were given and while much of it worked, there were a handful of jarring moments and downtime that dragged it. Team Belair def. Team Damage CTRL via pinfall – Grade: A-

AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor: Styles took the early advantage, isolating Balor's leg with a variety of strikes. Balor tried to reason with Styles that they are friends, but The O.C. boss wasn't having it. Momentum swung back and forth, but Styles generally had more success as Balor continued to struggle with his compromised leg. Styles remained in control until being distracted by Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest sparking a melee ringside between them and The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows). The familiarity between Styles and Balor shined through as they continued to counter one another.

Balor rolled through a Calf Crusher and landed a double stop on Styles. Another series of counters was punctuated with dueling Pele kicks that laid out both men. Balor missed a Coup de Grace near the final stretch, landing awkwardly on his injured leg. Styles capitalized with a Calf Crusher, but Balor escaped by slamming Styles' head against the mat. A final series of counters by the ring apron allowed Styles to launch off the ropes with a Phenomenal Forearm for the victory. A good show of crisp wrestling from two premier performers. The finish felt a touch anticlimactic but props to both gentlemen for the welts they wore. Styles def. Balor via pinfall – Grade: B+

SmackDown women's championship – Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Shotzi: The underdog Shotzi tried to take the fight to the champion early but almost immediately found herself in trouble. The challenger whiffed on an enziguri and found herself in an ankle lock. Shotzi managed to trip Rousey in the corner, landed a cannonball and then took out Shayna Bazler ringside with a dive. She tossed Rousey into the corner steps and then tried for a top rope splash that Rousey awkwardly countered. The champion regained control for the majority of the match, taunting Shotzi and the crowd while applying submission holds.

Shotzi took a big risk with a variation of a springboard DDT on the apron, but the application was clunky. What followed was a splash by the ring barricade that took out Rousey, Bazler and planted fans in the front row. Rousey landed a top rope judo throw, Piper's Pit and an armbar to retain her title. That was a touch rough. Shotzi got way too much offense in considering her recent booking and both superstars had disjointed moments. The crowd even broke into chants of "We Want Sasha [Banks]" at one point. Rousey def. Shotzi via submission to retain the title. Grade: D

United States championship – Seth Rollins (c) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Austin Theory (Triple Threat match): Lashley showed his strength advantage early. He chucked Theory and Rollins around the ring, delivered corner spears to both men and used Theory as a battering ram on Rollins. Rollins finally neutralized Lashley with a running knee off the apron. Theory interjected in the battle, using steel steps to lay out both opponents. Theory was firmly in control but allowed his ego to get the better of him. Theory's taunting and shouting revved up Rollins, allowing the champ to take over with strikes and a sling blade.

Rollins took flight, landing multiple dives on his opponents and a springboard flip. Rollins looked to close the match by lining up Theory for a Curb Stomp. Lashley yanked Theory out of the way and snatched the Hurt Lock on Rollins. Theory intervened, hopping on Lashley's back and applying a sleeper hold. Lashley recovered from a rolling blockbuster by Theory and snatched another Hurt Lock. Theory nearly stole the title by rolling up Lashley mid-submission, but the pin was interrupted by Rollins' frog splash. An amusing spot saw the gargantuan Lashely snatch a Hurt Lock on both opponents simultaneously. In the final stretch, Rollins launched off Theory's back to hit a Curb Stomp. Lashley nailed Rollins with a spear while Rollins was in the middle of planting Theory with a Falcon Arrow. A limp Theory fell on top of Rollins and scored the three-count.

Fantastic stuff all around. All three men were given the opportunity to showcase their particular skills: Lashley's strength, Theory's athleticism and Rollins' speed. The spots were creative and well-executed. The finish subverted expectations and renewed WWE's commitment to Theory without undermining Rollins. Theory def. Rollins and Lashley to win the title – Grade: A

Team Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa) vs. Team Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens) (WarGames match): Butch started the match for Team Brawling Brutes opposite Jey Uso. Butch targeted Jey Uso's previously injured arm early with various finger and wrist contortions. Jey Uso found himself at a disadvantage as Holland entered the cage to assist his Brawling Brutes collaborator. Jimmy Uso was ready to join the match, but Reigns held him back. Reigns instead directed Zayn to rescue Jey Uso amid the continued in-fighting between the pair. Jey Uso immediately bickered with Zayn, allowing Butch to knock down both men. The contentious alliance between Zayn and Jey Uso was temporarily mended after Zayn pulled Jey Uso away from danger.

McIntyre entered the ring and bullied Jey Uso and Zayn despite their newfound cohesion. Zayn rescued Jey Uso from a superplex if only momentarily. Jimmy Uso joined the chaos next and introduced three tables into the match. A shoving match broke out between Jey Uso and Sami Zayn as Jimmy Uso played peacekeeper. Reigns watched on in disgust. The trio managed to reorganize and put a whooping on their opponents. Owens was the penultimate member of his team to enter the match. He tossed three steel chairs into the ring and proceeded to beat down The Usos with furniture. What followed was a staredown between Owens and Zayn, two close friends on opposite teams. Holland snatched Zayn and beat him down before a conflict could break out between the friends. Owens ate a chair shot from Jey Uso but bounced back and tossed Jimmy Uso through a table. The Bloodline's enforcer Sikoa was sent out fourth and cleared the field. Owens put up an admirable fight but was also laid out by Sikoa.

Sheamus entered as the final member of his team. The brawling specialist put a beating on The Bloodline. Sheamus carried Sikoa's heavy frame to the middle rope and hit White Noise. Undisputed world champion Reigns emerged as the bout's final entrant. The warring teams stared down each other from opposite rings. A melee ensued before Reigns laid out each opponent with a heavy strike. Team Brawling Brutes bound all five opponents between the ropes and delivered Sheamus' trademark chest blows in unison. Jey Uso accidentally hit Zayn with a superkick but showed little concern for his teammate. A quick succession of big moves ensued: The Usos hit a 1-D off the top rope on Butch, Reigns speared Holland through a table, Sikoa planted McIntyre through a separate table and Owens nearly wrapped with a stunner on Sikoa.

Owens and Reigns slugged it out in the match's climax. Owens struck Reigns with a stunner that would have secured the win had Zayn not stopped the referee's hand from counting three. Zayn proved his allegiance to The Bloodline by hitting Owens below the belt, landing the Helluva Kick and setting up Jey Uso for a match-ending splash. Reigns and Jey Uso hugged Zayn post-match.

Nothing beats good storytelling. These matches often fall into a trap of overemphasizing weapons and spots. Questions about Zayn's loyalty, Jey's temperament and the friendship between Zayn and Owens permeated through the match. A conflicted Zayn proved himself worthy by turning on Owens and allowing Jey to pick up the win. Sheamus and Kevin Owens also looked strong ahead of future world title matches against Reigns. Great action paired with an even better story. Team Bloodline def. Team Brawling Brutes via pinfall. Grade: A+

'RHOA' alum Porsha Williams marries Simon Guobadia in Nigerian ceremony - Page Six

Porsha Williams is a Mrs. again!

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum married Simon Guobadia in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta on Friday, People reported.

Williams, who described the day as “a true fashion extravaganza,” had three outfit changes.

For the ceremony, she wore an over-the-top, deep red, princess-style wedding gown with feathers and gold embellishments by designer Lakimmy, along with an okuku, a headpiece with Benin coral beads.

It was the same dress the reality star, 41, accidentally showed over 2,000 of her Instagram followers while livestreaming earlier this month.

For the reception, she changed into two different gowns by designer Tabik: one in royal blue and one in gold.

The couple’s 250 guests — which included several Bravolebrities — wore traditional or formal Nigerian-inspired attire in purple and teal.

The ceremony was led by a spokesperson from each of their families, while traditional Benin singers and dancers performed. Guobadia, 57, is from Benin City in the Edo State of Nigeria.

For the reception, Williams said she wanted attendees to feel like they had “taken a flight and landed in Benin,” as the space was decorated with “beautiful colors of browns and rose golds and tans and creams.”

“The other thing I wanted was trees in the room,” she added. “I want[ed] it to feel like an inside/outside space, but luxurious.”

Williams and Guobadia also asked that their guests remain unplugged because they “want[ed] people to be in the moment.”

Though the “Pursuit of Porsha” author was “adamant” that the event honored the businessman’s roots, she made sure the food included southern staples like “fried lobster, steak and cornbread.”

According to People, the lovebirds will say “I do” in an American celebration on Saturday evening in front of 350 guests.

Fellow “RHOA” alums/stars Kandi Burruss, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Cynthia Bailey, Drew Sidora and Monyetta Shaw are expected to attend the church ceremony, followed by a ball and after-party.

T.I. and wife Tiny Harris are also on the guest list.

“It’s our last marriage, OK? We belong together. That is it,” Williams, who was previously married to Kordell Stewart and engaged to Dennis McKinely, told the publication. “It’s a blessing to be able to find your person. It doesn’t happen often.”

Williams and McKinley share daughter Pilar Jhena (“PJ”), 3, while Guobadia has five kids — Quentin, Nicole, Christian, Benjamin and Ximena — from previous marriages.

The “Porsha’s Family Matters” star noted that she’s “absolutely” open to expanding her family with her new husband.

“I’ve always wanted to have four kids, so it’s a blessing that he has three younger ones that are at home a lot of the time, and then I have my Pilar,” she shared.

“But as far as me being able to experience having a child with him, I definitely want to explore that. I’m not sure how many that will include, but I definitely know it wouldn’t be more than two.”

The newlyweds got engaged in May 2021 after a month of dating. They met on Season 13 of “RHOA” when Guobadia was married to cast “friend” Falynn Pina.
