In a statement to Page Six Style, the latter Rhode‘s legal team claims Bieber tried to acquire the trademark from design duo Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers in 2018; when they refused, Bieber allegedly went forward with launching her own Rhode brand anyway.
“She did this despite knowing of Rhode and its prior rights,” Lisa T. Simpson, lead litigation counsel to Rhode, told Page Six Style via email.
“It’s an unfortunate circumstance. We, of course, understand that Hailey wants to use her
middle name for her brand, but the law on this is clear: you can’t create this kind of brand
confusion just because you want to use your name. What Ms. Bieber is doing is harming a
minority co-owned business that two women have painstakingly built into a growing,
global brand.”

Launched in 2014, Rhode offers colorful printed dresses and separates loved by celebrities like Mindy Kaling and Kelly Clarkson.
In a separate statement shared with Page Six Style, Rhode co-founders Khatau and Vickers claim they were “forced” to file the lawsuit “in order to protect our business.”
“While a global brand, we are still a young and growing company, and we cannot overcome a celebrity with Hailey’s following using our company’s name to sell related products,” they said.
“We don’t want to sue Hailey; we want to celebrate her. As fellow women
entrepreneurs, we wish her every success. Hailey has hard-earned star power and influence. She could choose any brand for her company. We have only the brand that we’ve built.”
The lawsuit states that “the magnitude of Bieber’s following and the virality of her marketing will cause immediate, ongoing and irreparable harm to the Rhode brand.”
The two business owners are asking the court to block Bieber from using the Rhode name to avoid any confusion between their brands.
Page Six has reached out to Bieber’s Rhode team for comment, but didn’t receive any at the time of publication.

The BareMinerals ambassador first tried to secure the name Bieber Beauty, but the application was ultimately rejected due to possible confusion with previous marks registered by her husband, Justin Bieber.
“The reason this might feel strange is that there actually is a connection between Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber,” Alexandra Roberts, an associate professor at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, told Page Six Style at the time.
“If the marks coexisting leads consumers to think the brands are associated, they’re not exactly wrong.”
Despite fighting the decision, Bieber ultimately dropped it and chose to use her middle name, Rhode.
After the heroes evaded Vader’s attack on Jabiim, Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s finale found the rebels running out of time, with the Empire hot on their tail and shields waning.
Realizing this, Obi-Wan decides to buy everyone some time for repairs by facing Vader again, even if that might lead to his own death. Hugging Leia goodbye, Kenobi gives the young princess Tala’s (empty, sorry!) holster and promises her that he will come back.
On Tatooine, Owen and Beru receive a heads up from a friend who had been grilled by Reva that she’s headed their way. Owen warns Luke to stay put and hide, since Tuskens are raiding farms in the area again. But if anything goes wrong, he needs to run.
Obi-Wan attempts to commune with Qui-Gon one more time, saying he needs to face Anakin. Whether he dies or his former apprentice does, this ends today. Roken is there to see him off, reminding the Clone Wars general that he doesn’t have to do this. But this is between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, so there’s no turning back.

The Grand Inquisitor notes an escape craft leaving the transport with one person on board, but urges Vader to continue pursuing the rebels since this is their chance to wipe them out entirely. Vader, though, is laser focused on Kenobi and orders his ship to be prepared. As Obi-Wan braces for what he believes will be their final showdown — they will of course meet one more time, in A New Hope — he finds Lola in his pocket. Leia must have hidden the droid there while hugging him. Clever girl.
Following Obi-Wan’s drop ship to a barren moon, Vader once again comes face-to-face with his former master. Obi-Wan whips out his blue lightsaber and utters the same thing he told Anakin just before their battle on Mustafar at the end of Revenge of the Sith: “I will do what I must.”
“Then you will die,” Vader responds. They clash again.
At the same time, Reva arrives at Owen’s farm in pursuit of Luke. A prepped-and-positioned Owen and Beru fire blasters, which she deflects, her usually neat braids now loose and slightly disheveled after her being unceremoniously dismissed by Vader. Luke takes off running, and the former Inquisitor chases the boy to the dunes.
Back on the moon, Vader notes that Obi-Wan’s strength has returned but “the weakness still remains.” The Sith lord then uses the Force to bury Obi-Wan under some rocks he has hurled, saying, “Did you truly think that you could defeat me? You have failed, master.”
But Vader didn’t kill his former master with the cave-in. Rather, Obi-Wan uses the Force to stop the rocks from crushing him. Fueled by memories of both Luke and Leia, he repulses them up and away, then catches up with Vader. Their lightsaber battle continues.
Obi-Wan fights with everything he’s got and eventually slices Vader’s helmet open with his lightsaber. The move weakens Vader, who gasps for air with half of his face exposed. It’s then that Kenobi sees his padawan’s face for the first time in years. “Anakin,” he calls.
Through his damaged vocoder — we hear Hayden Christensen’s voice, distorted — Vader tells his former master that “Anakin is gone. I am what remains.” Obi Wan tells him he’s sorry for what happened in the past, but Vader dismisses it.
“I am not your failure. You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker — I did,” he notes, before vowing to destroy Obi-Wan in kind. Realizing that his friend truly is dead, Kenobi tells the broken man before him, “Goodbye, Darth,” and walks away. Through an enraged voice, a weakened Vader calls after “Obi-Wan!” and collapses to his knees, steadying himself against the rocks.
Obi-Wan senses Luke in danger and speeds after the boy in his dropship. On Tatooine, Luke has fallen, after being Forced off a rocky ledge by Reva, and sits unconscious. When Reva approaches him to go in for the kill, she sees herself at his age, and memories of Anakin slaughtering younglings in the Jedi temple come rushing back. With her lightsaber raised, she finds herself now in Anakin’s position.
Obi-Wan lands at Owen’s farm and sees both Owen and Beru calling after Luke, and prepares to search for him in the dunes. But Reva appears in the distance, returning with the unconscious boy in her arms. She reports to Obi-Wan that she couldn’t off Vader’s offspring, and as such failed her dead friends. Obi-Wan doesn’t see it that way, insisting she honored them and has given them peace. When Reva asks if she has become Darth Vader, Obi-Wan says no, she has chosen not to. And who she is now is entirely up to her. Reva places her Inquisitor lightsaber in the sand, and Obi-Wan declares them both free.
On Mustafar, Vader speaks to Darth Sidious through a hologram. Sidious notes that Lord Vader seems agitated and wonders if thoughts of his old master have left him weakened. Vader insists that Kenobi now means nothing, and he only serves his new master. Cue “Imperial March” as Vader sits on his lonely throne.
Returned to Alderaan, Leia dresses herself with one modification: Tala’s holster. Both Queen Breha and Bail Organa love the new look, and Leia is ready to become a leader — with a few changes, of course. All three are greeted by an arriving Obi-Wan, who offers his help to the Organas should they ever need it again.
He also comes clean to Leia about not knowing her parents. “Princess Leia Organa, you are wise, discerning, kind-hearted. These are qualities that came from your mother,” he tells her. “But you’re also passionate and fearless… forthright. These are gifts from your father. Both were exceptional people who bore an exceptional daughter.”
Kenobi wishes he could divulge more, but Leia says he doesn’t have to. When asked if she will ever see him again, Kenobi tells her maybe, if she ever needs help from a “tired old man.” However, no one must know, or that could endanger them both. Leia hugs him goodbye and Obi-Wan offers these familiar parting words: “May the Force be with you.”
After returning to Tatooine, Obi-Wan is wearing his old Jedi robes while packing up the cave he’d been living in for a decade. Riding an eopie to the Larses’ farm, the former Jedi Master is invited by Owen to finally meet Luke. “Hello, there…,” he says to the boy.
Shortly after, Obi-Wan rides through the desert and sees his master Qui-Gon Jinn as a Force ghost. (Hey, Liam Neeson!) He was starting to think his old master would never come.
“I was always here, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon tells him. “You just were not ready to see.” But now that Kenobi is ready, they have a ways to go….

Stranger Things season 4 part 1 arrived on Netflix on a few weeks ago and the streaming company has given fans their best look yet at what’s to come for part 2. At the very end of episode 7, the finale of part 1, Netflix included a brief teaser trailer for season 4’s second part, but on Tuesday it released a full trailer for the episodes that are set to arrive on July 1.
While part 1 of Stranger Things’ latest season was seven episodes, part 2 will only include two. However, those two episodes will still nearly match the length of shorter shows. The first episode of part 2 is over 80 minutes long, while the last one will run for nearly two and a half hours.
Stranger Things season 4 part 2 will bring the season’s story to a close, but it’s also likely to set up at least a few plot lines for next season, which will close out the show. While season 5 will be the last for Stranger Things, Netflix has said in the past that it feels the series could be part of a larger expanded universe, but no concrete plans have been announced so far.
Bradley Cooper recalled being mocked for his numerous Oscar nominations by people in Hollywood.
He told the "SmartLess" podcast that a director told him he didn't deserve seven nominations.
He also said a "hero" actor belittled his first Oscar nomination.

Although Cooper has not won an Academy Award, the actor has been nominated nine times, including three times for the 2018 musical remake "A Star Is Born."
Last week, Will Arnett brought up Cooper's nine nominations during the latest episode of his podcast "SmartLess" — which Arnett cohosts with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes.
During the conversation, Cooper recalled a party at which he was mocked by an actor he described as a "hero" of his, after receiving his first Oscar nomination for his lead role in "Silver Linings Playbook."
Before the incident, the "Nightmare Alley" actor was "levitating" from attending a party with major film stars like Daniel Day-Lewis and Denzel Washington.
"This hero female actress that I didn't know at all comes up to me, she goes, 'I saw your movie you deserve the nom,'" Cooper said, emphasizing the word "nom."
Cooper continued: "10, 20 minutes later, I passed her going to the bathroom and she mouths it: 'The nom.' I remember [thinking], 'What the fuck is this town?'"
Cooper also spoke about another incident at another party four years ago when an unnamed director said he didn't deserve his Academy Award nominations. At the time, Cooper had seven nominations and was standing next to an actor and friend of his who only had three Oscar nominations.
"What world are we living in where you have seven nominations? What? She's only got three," Cooper recalled the director telling him.
"I never forget anything anybody mean has ever said," he continued. "I remember I was like, 'I fucking hate this business.' I'll never forget it, and I'm looking and I'm like, 'Why are you such an asshole. Go fuck yourself."
"I was so lost, and I was addicted to cocaine," Cooper explained. "Will [Arnett] took that risk of having that hard conversation with me in, like, July of 2004 and that put me on a path of deciding to change my life."
All is not settled in the land of Johnny Depp, despite his British travels, a reported $62,000 celebratory dinner, and winning a defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor has to contend with yet another trial, this time brought against him, wherein a crew member on the set of one of his movies is accusing him of assault. Camille Vasquez and Benjamin Chew, the lawyers that became somewhat household names for Depp supporters blanketing social media during the last trial, will reportedly again defend him in an on-set assault lawsuit. (Chew had worked for Depp during previous lawsuits—it’s been a busy six years for the actor—but Vasquez, recently made partner at their firm, is a fairly new addition to the team.)
Gregg “Rocky” Brooks was a location manager on City of Lies, a crime-thriller about LAPD’s investigation into unsolved murder of the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Depp plays a retired detective and Forest Whitaker plays the journalist he teams up with to get to the bottom of the murders. The film was slated for release in September 2018, but according to Deadline at the time, its distributor pulled it after the suit was filed, which Brooks had filed about a month before. In the original 2018 filing, which also names director Brad Furman as a defendant, Brooks claimed that when he told Depp that they could only film one more exterior shot of the night due to permit requirements, the actor became angry. The location manager alleged Depp then followed him, yelled, “Who the fuck are you? You have no right to tell me what to do,” and punched him twice in the ribs.
After Brooks didn’t react, Depp allegedly said he’d give him “$100,000 to punch me in the face right now.” Depp’s own bodyguards escorted him from the scene.
Brooks, who is also suing Depp’s production company for wrongful termination, said that he was fired after refusing to sign an agreement not to sue the production, and subsequently, according to Brooks’s lawyer Pat Harris, found it difficult to get work. In 2019, when the trial was originally scheduled to begin before delays, Harris told Variety, “We obviously recognize that in the hierarchy of Hollywood, Johnny Depp is on top and the location managers are somewhere mid-level or toward the bottom. In any confrontation between the two of them, no matter who started it, no matter who’s responsible, Johnny Depp is going to come out on top and our guy is going to come out damaged.”
According to Variety at the time, Depp was expected to testify that he did not hit Brooks, and that he confronted him verbally after he saw Brooks acting “belligerently toward a woman on set.”
Depp’s lawyer at the time, Adam Waldman, told the outlet that they planned to bring a malicious prosecution claim against Brooks’s lawyers. “After all the evidence from multiple sworn eyewitness testimony and dozens of contemporaneous photographs taken by the script supervisor, Mr. Brooks has finally found a single witness to support his absurd, delusional claim—his own lawyer,” Waldman said. “As soon as the evidence defeats Mr. Brooks in trial we will immediately launch malicious prosecution claims against his attorneys. What Mr. Brooks lawyer terms ‘scorched earth’ is actually known as ‘Justice.’”
Waldman also told TheWrap in 2018 that Depp “never touched the person suing him, as over a dozen witnesses present will attest. In a court filing we have generally denied all claims and we will fight these latest sham allegations.”
In filings responding to Brooks’s lawsuit obtained by TheWrap, the allegation is that Brooks “provoked” Depp, who “[feared] for his safety”:
“The acts complained of by Plaintiff were provoked by Plaintiff’s unlawful and wrongful conduct in that Plaintiff willfully and maliciously acted out and conducted his activities in such a manner as to cause, Defendant Depp to fear for his safety, and according to Defendant Depp’s observations, Defendant Brad Furman [the director] for his safety.”
In a 2018 story about the decision to scuttle the film, the Daily Beast spoke with four sources who say they witnessed an altercation but not blows between the men. To which Brooks’s lawyer Arbella Azizian told the Daily Beast, “[M]y client was punched. He was punched twice in the rib cage and this was witnessed... I suggest you use a different source to get a more accurate assessment of what happened on set.”
There is still more than a month until the trial; it’s scheduled to begin July 25 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. And it will not be televised.
Jurors in the civil trial for sexual misconduct allegations against actor and comedian Bill Cosby must start deliberations over after reaching a verdict on Friday for nearly all the questions asked of them.
After two days of deliberations, the jury had concluded whether Cosby sexually assaulted plaintiff Judy Huth at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 when she was just 16-years-old, and whether she deserved any damages.
Jurors answered eight of nine questions on their verdict form: the final one asking if Cosby's actions warranted punitive damages.
Judge Craig Karlan had promised one juror that she could leave after Friday for a prior commitment.

The judge opted to read the verdict on the questions the jury had answered despite objections from Cosby's attorneys. However, Karlan had to reverse his decision when deputies at the Santa Monica Courthouse showed up and required him to clear the courtroom. The courthouse has a required 4:30 p.m. closing time due to there being no budget for deputies' overtime.
Karlan wouldn't require the juror who had to leave to return on Monday, so deliberations will have to restart with an alternate juror in her place. "I won't go back on my word," he said.
Earlier in the day, a note was given to the judge about what he referred to as a "personality issue" between two of the jurors that was making their work difficult.
The judge called the two jurors to the courtroom and had them agree to allow every juror to be heard in discussions. The jurors resumed deliberations but had several questions on issues with their verdict form that the judge and attorneys had to talk about and answer, including how to calculate damages.

Cosby lawyer Jennifer Bonjean requested a mistrial after lunch because of a photo taken by a member of Cosby's team showing a juror standing near one of the comedian's accusers who had been sitting in the audience.
Artist Lily Bernard, who has filed her own lawsuit against Cosby, said she had not talked to any jurors.
"I never spoke to any juror, ever," Bernard told the judge from her seat in the courtroom. "I would never do anything to jeopardize this case. I don't even look at them."
Jurors started deliberations Thursday morning following a two-week trial. Cosby was not in the courtroom.

The 84-year-old was freed from prison last year after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his 2018 criminal conviction. In a snippet from a 2015 video deposition shown to jurors, Cosby denied having any sexual contact with Huth. His spokesman and attorney have each reiterated his denial throughout the trial.
Bonjean asked the jury in closing arguments to tune out public allegations against Cosby and only consider the evidence presented during the trial. She said the evidence does not prove Huth's case.
