Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey decided which guys would be worthy of moving on to hometown visits on Monday night’s The Bachelorette.
Season 19’s The Bachelorette is the first of the hit ABC reality show in which two women look for love. After a rocky start, they decided to separate the guys into two teams.
But the drama flowed again on episode 6 as Gabby tearfully sent home a promising suitor, a guy on Rachel’s team revealed a shocking secret, and another man was felled by COVID-19!
Who got Gabby’s one-on-one date?
The show’s European cruise ship arrived in Amsterdam and Gabby chose Nate for the private date. She was concerned about Nate already being a dad and noted with hometown visits looming “you’re involving more than one person.”
Gabby had a rough childhood with her mom and was “terrified” about the prospect of getting to know Nate’s young daughter.
Although she loved how Nate had treated her, Gabby told the cameras, “I go back and forth on if I want to be a mother and that’s something I don’t quite have figured out yet. It just seems so complicated.”
Tearful Gabby, 31, thought she had more growing up to do—and amid the beautiful Amsterdam scenery, she ended things with Nate.
“I never want to say goodbye but I think we’re just in two different places in our life. It’s not you, it’s me,” crying Gabby told him.
She admitted she was scared of being a mom but Nate said she’d be great.
Still, he accepted her decision that it was over, saying, “I would never be upset at you for being truthful.”
Nate cried while leaving and his suitcase was removed from the ship in front of the remaining Team Gabby guys.
Who received Rachel’s one-on-one date?
The flight instructor, 26, selected Zach who looked like a frontrunner as he had previously had a private date in episode 3.
This time, the two visited a tulip field in Holland, rode bikes, shopped for clogs, and shared a hot tub.
“She gives me butterflies,” Zach said in confessional.
He was eager to get a rose to move on to the hometown visit portion of the show.
But over dinner at a museum, Zach suddenly got serious and told Rachel, “I wanted to talk to you about this…a couple of years ago, I was about 85 pounds more than I am now, severely overweight.”
Zach continued that he couldn’t find love at that time and asked himself, “How do I fix it?”
The tech executive told Rachel that he pursued therapy.
That delighted Rachel, who admitted she had also sought help after being dumped on Clayton Echard’s The Bachelor season.
“Going to therapy was the favorite part of my week,” she said, adding that she had asked herself, “How do I move forward and what do I like? I truly love it so much.”
She also loved that Zach had sought therapy.
He agreed with Rachel, “It can do wonders!” and said, “I am falling in love with you.”
She gave Zach her date rose and they kissed in front of a classical music ensemble.
Meanwhile, Gabby told her team back at the boat what they already knew, “Nate isn’t here.”
After she informed her remaining guys that she was worried about the responsibility of being a mom, they hugged her.
On their group date, they visited Amsterdam’s red light district where a woman with a whip asked them sexual questions.
Johnny wouldn’t answer when he was asked if he’d slept with more than 10, 20, or 30 women!
The guys took off their shirts and were blindfolded so Gabby could tickle and whip them.
Later, before the cocktail party, host Jesse Palmer told Gabby that controversial Logan had “tested positive for COVID-19.” He was doing fine but the cocktail party was canceled. Jesse told the guys something had happened with Logan—but not exactly what the issue was.
As Parade.com readers know, Logan had been part of Rachel’s team before switching sides, deciding he was more attracted to Gabby.
Logan’s illness left Gabby having to make hometown picks without talking to the other guys further.
Cameras switched to Rachel having a group date with the other men on her team at an Amsterdam cheese market.
They stripped off their shirts for a cheese lifting competition, which Tino won.
At the cocktail party later, Aven told Rachel his parents would love to meet her. Tyler said he was falling really hard for her.
After a makeout session with Rachel, Tino boasted to the cameras, “I hit it out of the park.”
However, he stormed away when she gave Tyler the group date rose instead!
“I don’t f---ing get it!” Tino raged to a producer. “This is a f---ing joke!”
As the rose ceremony approached, Spencer thought no one should go home without Logan being there.
But three roses were available for Gabby while Rachel had two, meaning that eliminations would happen.
Gabby revealed to everyone that she didn’t want to meet four men’s families, only three.
