Pregnant Heather Rae Young, who is in her third trimester, has been placed on bed rest.
The “Selling Sunset” star, 35, gave her Instagram followers a health update on Thursday after leaving a routine checkup, explaining that her sciatica pain had become “unbearable.”
“Baby update: I just left the doctor,” she began the selfie-style video from her car, almost immediately clarifying that “everything’s good” with her and husband Tarek El Moussa’s baby boy.
“I’m not doing very good,” she went on, noting that her pain was “worse than before.”
Young said her doctor wants her “resting” and “laying down,” which is admittedly difficult for the Los Angeles-based real estate agent.
“But obviously the most important thing is feeling better and taking care of the baby,” she acknowledged.
Though she’s “getting close” to her early 2023 due date, the mama-to-be noted that she still has “some time” before her son is set to make his arrival, so she has to “do what’s best” for them both.
The Netflix personality added that she’s “still doing [her] physical therapy” and will be “trying acupuncture” on Friday.
“I’m hoping this goes away soon,” she said. “I definitely cannot feel this for the rest of the pregnancy.”
Sciatica is pain along the sciatic nerve, which is the main nerve in the leg and also the largest nerve in the body, reports Johns Hopkins University. It extends from the back of the pelvis down the back of the thigh.
According to Mayo Clinic, sciatica is common during pregnancy and most often shows up during the third trimester because as the fetus grows, it puts additional pressure on unstable joints and muscles.
The medical site notes that the baby’s position can also contribute to sciatic nerve compression.
Young has otherwise had a seemingly healthy and smooth pregnancy, as she’s made sure to show off her growing baby bump at several recent events and awards shows.
Last month, she celebrated her son’s upcoming arrival with a star-studded, winter wonderland-themed baby shower.
This will be her first child and first with El Moussa, who co-parents daughter Taylor, 12, and son Brayden, 7, with ex-wife Christina Haack.
Young — who loves being a “bonus mom” to her stepchildren — recently admitted she used to feel she came “second” to Haack, 39, but not because anyone “ever made [her] feel that way” on purpose.
Young announced in July that she and El Moussa, 41, were expecting a bundle of joy.
They began dating in 2019 and tied the knot in October 2021.
